Despite the improvements to the economy, Americans are still feeling anxious about their retirement prospects. Unfortunately, Americans have good reason to be concerned. A recent report by the Center for Retirement Research suggests that, for the first time, a majority of Americans are headed towards a retirement in which they will be financially worse off than their parents.

But it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom as there are products on the market that offer those saving for retirement a source of guaranteed lifetime income.  In addition to figuring out a tax strategy, disappearing pensions, worries about social security and a turbulent economy have people wondering how they’re going to manage funds for their retirement and healthcare expenses. Many are turning to annuities to help—even the government has been recommending them—but aren’t quite sure how they work.
